Gauteng Health MEC Brian Hlongwa will on Thursday, 3 May 2007, launch the
Quality Health Care for All campaign in Midrand, Johannesburg.
The initiative, which supports the National Healthy Lifestyles Campaign,
aims at encouraging the adoption of healthy approaches to living among the
people of Gauteng.
Programmes of the campaign will focus on the following:
* enhancement of community health structures
* education and support to communities to encourage the adoption of correct
behavioural practices such as healthy eating, physical activity, non-smoking,
responsible alcohol consumption and practising safe sex
* collaboration between the government and stakeholders including the private
sector, health professional bodies, traditional leaders and healers, and the
fitness industry.
The event is expected to be attended by representatives of the private
sector, community members, community health workers, municipal officials and
experts from the medical fraternity.
