performance of national and provincial governments

Auditor-General (AG), Terence Nombembe will, from the 16 October, embark on
a countrywide road show to brief legislatures and Parliament on his overview of
the 2006/07 national and provincial government audits.
AG spokesman Africa Boso says the aim of the briefings is to share the AG's
audit outcomes and trends for national and provincial governments for the
2006/07 financial year.
"Through these interactions the AG aims to update legislators on how
national and provincial departments; and other public sector entities audited
under the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) have performed - what were the
areas of improvement from the previous years, problem areas identified, what
were the root causes and how could these be remedied."
The AG's itinerary is as follows:
North West Legislature: 16 October, Mmabatho
Mpumalanga: 18 October, Nelspruit
Northern Cape: 22 October, Kimberley
Eastern Cape: 23 October, Bisho
KwaZulu-Natal: 24 October, Durban
Gauteng: 25 October Johannesburg
National Assembly and National Council of Provinces in Parliament: 26 October,
Cape Town
Limpopo: 30 October, Polokwane
Free State: 22 November, Bloemfontein
Western Cape: (provincial legislature still to confirm date and venue).
The AG will present his overall findings on local government during May
2008.
