Eastern Cape Presidential Imbizo

President Cyril Ramaphosa will undertake the 9th District Development Model (DDM) Presidential Imbizo of the 6th administration in the Chris Hani District Municipality in the Eastern Cape Province on 11 August 2023.

The DDM Presidential Imbizo will be attended by the President and leaders from all three spheres of government under the theme: “Leave no one behind”. Through the DDM Presidential Imbizo government will interact with residents on service delivery challenges and set out plans for development in the area. 

The Chris Hani District Municipality is situated in the north-eastern part of the Eastern Cape Province, and is a linking node to all regions in the province. It is shares boundaries with the Joe Gqabi District to the north, Sarah Baartman and Amathole Districts to the south, OR Tambo District to the east, and Northern Cape Province to the west.

Chris Hani is the second-largest district in the province, and the municipality comprises six local municipalities, namely, Inxuba Yethemba, Enoch Mgijima, Intsika Yethu, Engcobo, Sakhisizwe and Emalahleni. The main towns are Engcobo, Cala, Cofimvaba, Lady Frere, Tsomo, Elliot, Dordrecht, Queenstown, Tarkastad, Whittlesea, Indwe, Cradock and Middelburg.
