Sittings of the Free State Provincial Legislature: Provincial Departmental Budget Votes
The speaker of the Free State Legislature, Honourable Mamiki Qabathe has convened the sittings of the House across the province as part of taking parliament to the people. The purpose of these sittings is to allow Provincial Departments and the Legislature through Members of the Executive Council (MEC’s) and Speaker, to table their 2016/17 Budget Votes, to be adopted by the House.
The budget process forms part of an annual plan of what government aims to achieve within a financial year and how it will spend the budget allocated. As a result, it is regarded as the most important economic instrument of the government delivery.
