President Jacob Zuma has today, 26 January 2011, arrived in Davos Klosters, Switzerland for the 2011 World Economic Forum taking place from 26 – 30 January.
The President is accompanied by Finance Minister Gordhan, Economic Development Minister Mr Ebrahim Patel, Tourism Minister Mr Marthinus van Schalkwyk, Trade and Industry Minister Dr Rob Davies, Water and Environmental Affairs Minister Ms Edna Molewa and Energy Minister Ms Dipuo Peters.
President Zuma and his ministerial delegation will use the attendance of WEF to promote the country and the new drive for inclusive growth and focused job creation.
Amongst key sessions, the President will host a dialogue with about 60 CEOs of international companies to discuss opportunities in South Africa, and a session which will set the scene for the UN climate change conference that will take place in Durban at the end of the year.
Ministers accompanying the President will participate in a number of sessions. These include amongst others, sessions on infrastructure development, financing the green economy, energy efficiency, the reform of international financial institutions, global security and tourism.
President Zuma will leave Davos on 28 January and proceed to Addis Ababa to attend the African Union Summit.
