Minister of Social Development to attend Unesco forum

The Minister of Social Development, Dr Zola Skweyiya is to attend the Eighth
session of the Intergovernmental Council of the Management of Social
Transformations Programme (MOST IGC) of the United Nations Educational
Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco), from 16 to 18 July in Paris,
France.

Minister Skweyiya was elected as President of the MOST IGC in 2005.

MOST has launched a series of Forums for Ministers of Social Development to
discuss and co-ordinate common strategies for social policy and share best
practices. The Eighth session intends to turn the Council into a regular
Inter-Regional Forum of ministers of Social Development.

The MOST programme promotes the use of research to achieve evidence-based
policy making by governments.

Dr Skweyiya will officially open the proceedings on the 16th of July, and
will also present a report on behalf of Southern African Ministers of Social
Development.
