The National Youth Commission (NYC) will convene a three-day Lekgotla in
Pretoria on 28 February to 2 March 2007. In attendance will be Chairpersons and
other members of Provincial Youth Commissions from all nine provinces.
Members of the media are invited to a briefing which will take place as
follows:

The purpose of the gathering is to assess progress on the implementation of
youth development programmes across the country. The National Youth Development
Policy Framework 2002-2007 will also come under the spotlight as its lifespan
comes to an end in March this year. Deliberations will also do an analysis of
the pronouncements made by the President in the State of the Nation Address and
Premiers in the State of the Province Addresses.
Expected to emerge from the meeting is a youth development Programme of
Action to deepen the Youth Commission's mandate of lobbying and advocacy.
