Sector Reporting Awards

Six years ago the South African Institute of Government Auditors introduced
awards in the public sector to recognise the pursuit of excellence in annual
reports published by provincial and national government departments.
The Western Cape Department of Agriculture received the highest marks out of
all the government departments in the Western Cape. What makes the achievement
even more remarkable is that it came second overall of all government
departments in the country, scoring 93,43%, which is only 1% less than the
94,43% obtained by the national Department of Education who lies in the first
position. Last year the Western Cape Department of Agriculture was no 15 on the
overall list.
This achievement underscores the department's commitment to effective and
accountable reporting and it is the only Agricultural Department that lies in
the top 20 departments on the list for 2007. The Minister of Agriculture in the
Western Cape Cobus Dowry is extremely proud of this achievement and wants to
congratulate and thank the officials of the Department of Agriculture with the
remarkable achievement that was obtained through hard work and dedication.
