T Xasa to open pay point at Emahlubini Community Hall, 24 Feb

Media statement

22 February 2006

The Eastern Cape Department of Social Development MEC Toko Xasa will on 24
February 2006 officially open a pay point at Emahlubini Community Hall in
Cofimvaba at 10h00 am. The pay point was built after the area has considered
the fact that beneficiaries are getting their grants in unfavourable conditions
like under the trees, shops and even from open space.

This is one of the government initiatives to create the environment that
suits the needs of all the beneficiaries. “The development of the pay points is
to ensure that we adhere to the norms and standards set by national government
where our elderly people, people with disabilities and care givers will get
these services with dignity, respect and care under secure environment,” said
MEC Tako Xasa.

The Emahlubini pay point is not only going to function as a pay point but
also be used for multi- purposes. The community members will be given
permission to use the pay point to their advantage, by starting projects that
will help them generate income. MEC Xasa has encouraged communities to develop
a sense of ownership regarding the government deliverables meant to improve
their livelihood.
