Tomorrow, Thursday, 7 June 2007, Eastern Cape MEC for Safety, Liaison, Roads
and Transport, Mr Thobile Mhlahlo, will unveil a stone of remembrance for 20
Paterson accident victims, who lost their lives on the N2 to Port Elizabeth
last year. The event will be held at Kwazenzele Taxi Rank, Clay Street,
Paterson at 10h00.
MEC Mhlahlo is expected to announce the Department of Roads and Transport's
interventions to alleviate poverty and infrastructure development in the
Sundays River Valley Municipality area. This includes the Nomathasanqa Main
Street and the road to Addo National Elephant Park. He will further announce
the plans for the implementation of the department's Sakha Isizwe
Community-Based Transportation Programme using the Expanded Public Works
Programme principles, which is expected to benefit 150 poor households within
the municipality.
