Mhlahlo to open the Umzimvubu Vehicle Testing Station

As part of celebrating Transport Month 2007, Eastern Cape MEC for Safety,
Liaison, Roads and Transport, Mr Thobile Mhlahlo will officially open the
Umzimvubu Vehicle Testing Centre in Mount Frere on Thursday, 18 October 2007,
at 10h00.
The project has cost the Department of Roads and Transport R5,7 million and
it will assist in ensuring that all vehicles, especially public transport
vehicles taxis and buses, that utilise our road network within the Alfred Nzo
District are roadworthy. Our strategy seeks to ensure that our rural
communities have access to safe and reliable public transport system.
In this event, MEC Mhlahlo is further expected to announce a more than R20
million district road maintenance programmes, which is going to assist in
improving the road conditions and create jobs for local people.
