Thobile Mhlahlo will host 2010 Fifa World Cup Provincial Safety and Security
Summit

Eastern Cape MEC for Safety, Liaison, Roads and Transport, Mr Thobile
Mhlahlo, will host a Safety and Security Summit for 2010 Federation of
International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup at the Coega Village in
Port Elizabeth on 1 to 2 November 2007.
The objectives of the summit are:
* to facilitate processes whereby all relevant stakeholders, in particular
the law enforcement agencies and the Criminal Justice System, develop
appropriate and holistic security plans in an integrated and systematic
manner
* to develop a volunteer strategy for communities to contribute to the safety
and security of the tournament and beyond
* development of an integrated Provincial Safety and Security Plan, which
includes the role of local government.
The summit will feature prominent speakers such as the Chief Executive
Officer of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Local Organising Committee, Mr Danny
Jordaan, National Head of Security for 2010 Mr Linda Mti, MEC Mhlahlo, 2006
German World Cup Security experts, heads of security from the host City (Nelson
Mandela Bay) and base camps (Buffalo City and King Sabata Dalindyebo), South
African Pplice Service, South African National Defence Force, Eastern Cape
Youth Commission etc.
