President Thabo Mbeki has appointed Ms Lorretta Jacobus as the new Deputy
Minister for Correctional Services.
Ms Jacobus has been a longstanding member of the National Council of
Provinces (NCOP) and was previously a member of the Gauteng Provincial
Legislature.
The new Deputy Minister will be sworn in today (Thursday), 2 February, at a
ceremony to be held at Tuynhuys.
Ms Lorretta Jacobus replaces Ms Cheryl Gillwald who recently retired.

Venue: Tuynhuys (Media Centre)
Time: 12h00
Members of the media are invited to the swearing-in ceremony and must report
at Tuynhuys by 11h15.
