President Thabo Mbeki will receive a courtesy call from Prince Philippe and
Princess Mathilda of Belgium on Friday, 17 March 2006.

Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilda have been paying an official visit to
South Africa from Sunday, 12 March 2006. The visit comes within the context of
the South African Government's heightened emphasis on economic diplomacy in
support of Accelerated Shared Growth Initiative of South Africa (AsgiSA) and
the drive to average six percent growth and halve poverty and unemployment by
2014.

In this regard, Prince Philippe is leading a high-profile Belgian economic
mission of CEOs/senior managers of close to 70 companies to South Africa. The
Prince's delegation includes Marc Verwilghen, Federal Minister of Economy,
Energy, Foreign Trade and Science Policy and Fientjie Moerman, Vice-Minister
President of the Flemish Government and Flemish Minister of Economy,
Enterprise, Science, Innovation and Foreign Trade.
