President Thabo Mbeki meets with Big Business Working
Group

President Thabo Mbeki and Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will on
Thursday meet the Big Business Working Group to discuss, amongst others,
progress made in terms of issues of common interest between Government and
Business Sector.

The last meeting, on 4 April 2007, which was also attended by Cabinet
ministers and senior government officials, focused on key challenges including
Energy Security, Crime and the Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative of
South Africa (AsgiSA). Strategic goals were identified to respond to the
challenges noted.

The aim of this meeting is to discuss amongst others:

  • electricity security
  • update on government/business crime partnership
  • skills development
  • brief updates on, Zimbabwe: emergency response and transformation
    issues.
