T Mbeki congratulates Lesotho Prime Minister P Mosisili

President Thabo Mbeki congratulates Lesotho's Prime Minister,
Pakalitha Mosisili on his re-election

President Thabo Mbeki today, Wednesday, 21 February, conveyed South Africa's
warmest congratulations to Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili, the government
and peoples of Lesotho following their successful national general
elections.

"Please accept the congratulations of the government and peoples of South
Africa on your re-election as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho,"
said President Mbeki.

"We join the international community in expressing our acceptance of the
outcomes of these elections as indeed a reflection of the democratic will of
the people of the Kingdom of Lesotho. Accordingly, we congratulate the peoples
of the Kingdom of Lesotho in their various formations and political parties for
participating in the general elections as an integral part of shaping the
destiny of your country while consolidating the institutions of democracy in
Lesotho."

"In this regard, may we assure, Your Excellency, of our continued goodwill
and desire to work towards the deepening and consolidation of bilateral
political, economic, trade and cultural links between our two governments and
peoples through the existing Joint Bilateral Commission."

"SA looks forward to working with the government and peoples of Lesotho in
both the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union as
part of efforts aimed at the renewal of our continent and the creation of a
better life for all our peoples," concluded President Thabo Mbeki.
