President Thabo Mbeki will on Thursday, 28 September, chair the Presidential
Commercial Agriculture Working Group Meeting to be held at the Union Buildings,
West Wing, 09h00 to 11h00.
Tomorrow's meeting is expected to look at the comprehensive plan for land
and agrarian reform, bio-fuels, trade and marketing. The last meeting of the
Working Group was on 27 June 2006, at which was discussed the implementation of
the agricultural sector plan.
The government delegation will include the ministers of Agriculture and Land
Affairs, Minerals and Energy, Public Works and Provincial and Local Government.
Agricultural constituencies will be represented by, amongst others, National
African Farmers Union (NAFU) president, Mr Motsepe Matlala, AgriSA president,
Mr Lourie Bosman, Transvaal Agriculture Union (TAU)-South Africa president, Mr
P van der Merwe and the Agriculture CEOs Forum.
Media are invited for a photo-opportunity at the beginning of the meeting
(09h00) and a media briefing at the end of meeting (11h00).
