Democracy Educational Trust (SADET) book: The Road to Freedom, 2nd Volume

President Thabo Mbeki will tomorrow, 5 October, attend the launch of The
Road to Democracy, a sequel to The Road to Freedom, a commissioned historical
publication of the South African Democracy Educational Trust (SADET).
The road to democracy project is a chronological analysis of four decades of
struggle for freedom and democracy in South Africa, covering the period 1960 -
1970, 1970 - 1980, 1980 - 1990 and 1990 - 1994. The first volume on the 1960s
was published in April 2004.
SADET was established as a project trust after President Thabo Mbeki
indicated his concern about the paucity of historical material on the difficult
and tricky road to peace after decades of violent conflict in South Africa.
The project is led by historians who co-ordinate a team of researchers from
all the nine provinces.
