1. President Thabo Mbeki to attend Agriculture Working Group meeting
President Mbeki will tomorrow, 27 June, attend the Commercial Agriculture
Working Group Meeting at the Union Buildings at 10h00.
The Working Group held its last meeting on 29 November 2005 in Pretoria,
wherein the role of the agriculture sector in efforts to accelerate economic
growth was discussed. Issues expected to emerge in tomorrowâs meeting include
trade and investment, land reform and Agri Black Economic Empowerment
(AgriBEE).
This is the first meeting of the working group following the last Cabinet
reshuffle that saw the appointment of a new Department of Agriculture and Land
Affairs Minister, Ms Luluma Xingwana.
The President will be accompanied by members of the Cabinet including the
Minister in The Presidency Dr Essop Pahad, Minister of Agriculture Ms Lulama
Xingwana and the Minister of Finance Mr Trevor Manuel. The agriculture sector
will be represented Mr Motsepe Matlala, President of National African Farmers
Union (NAFU), Mr Lori Bosman, President of Agri South Africa, Mr Johannes
Moller, Mr Teddy Matsetela, Chairman of Farmers Development Trust and other
office bearers.

2. President Mbeki to receive letters of credence
Following the Working Group meeting, President Mbeki will receive letters of
credence from ambassadors designate from New Zealand, Egypt, Uganda, Serbia and
Ethiopia, in the afternoon on Tuesday, 27 June, at the Presidential Guest
House.
