Consultative Conference

President Thabo Mbeki will officially open the second National Consultative
Conference of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in South Africa, to be
held on 4 and 5 May 2006 at the Walter Sisulu Memorial Park in Kliptown,
Johannesburg.
Led by Public Service and Administration Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi
as the Focal Point and Chairperson of the Governing Council, the conference
will deliberate on South Africa's Country Self-Assessment Report and Programme
of Action.
The primary purpose of the APRM is to foster the adoption of policies,
standards and practices that lead to political stability, high economic growth,
sustainable development and accelerated sub-regional and continental economic
integration through sharing of experiences and reinforcement of successful and
best practice, including identifying deficiencies and assessing the needs for
capacity building.
