Premier Thabang Makwetla and MEC for Education, Siphosezwe Masango will on
Tuesday, 30 May 2006, launch the provincial Youth Month Programme 2006, which
is organised under the theme " Age of Hope: Deepening Youth Participation to
Fight Poverty and Create Jobs."
During his State of the province address, Premier Makwetla said: âOur plan
of putting together a programme that would improve career guidance and bursary
schemes for young people from rural areas is at an advanced stage. The
Mpumalanga Youth Commission and the Department of Education have collaborated
in this effort."
In fulfilment of this policy directive, the Mpumalanga Department of
Education and the Youth Commission will also be launching Mpumalanga Bursary
and Career Guide booklet during the occasion.
The launch of the programme and the guide will set the scene for the
celebration of the 30th anniversary of 16 June 1976.
Learner representatives as well as relevant educators have been invited.
