The Minister of Public Works, Ms Thoko Didiza, MP, invites the media to a
pre-budget vote media briefing at the Imbizo Media Centre at 12h00 today. The
Minister will deliver her first budget vote speech as the Minister of Public
Works since being assigned to the post in May last year. The speech will focus
on:
* the refocusing of the Department of Public Works (DPW), its alignment with
the provinces in order to heighten contribution to socio-economic agenda
including poverty alleviation, public infrastructure delivery programme,
improved service delivery and job creation
* the details behind the expansion and ratching upwards of the Expanded Public
Works Programme (EPWP) to fulfil its mandate of job creation and skills
development
* the detailed announcements pertaining to the human resource strengthening of
the DPW, including the of the launch of the National Youth Service as part of
the EPWP
