Statistics South Africa will launch the first of a series of country wide
consultation workshops on the role of statistics in the economy and society on
Wednesday (13 June) at Roode Vallei Country Lodge Pretoria.
The workshops are aimed at creating a platform for statistical users and
independent economists to debate important statistical issues and advice
Statistics South Africa on how the current statistical products/releases can be
improved. The statistical users come from a wide range of industries and
expertise. Amongst the thought-provoking topics that will be discussed is the
changing consumer expenditure patterns and the impact it will have on the
Consumer Price Index.
Parallel sessions will be conducted for information users who either want to
access statistics or need more in-depth knowledge on specific areas of
statistical releases. The workshops will be held for two days in each of these
provinces: Gauteng, Western Cape, Northern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
