South African Revenue Service on Small Business Tax Amnesty submission
deadline

Small Business Tax Amnesty - Only three days left for
businesses to submit required documents

28 August 2007

Pretoria: The South African Revenue Service (SARS) wishes to remind all
those that have applied for the Small Business Tax Amnesty that the deadline
for the submission of their 2006 tax return and financial statements is 31
August 2007. These documents are required for the completion of the amnesty
applications. There are only three days left for businesses to submit the
required documents.

SARS has done all it can to reach and encourage small businesses to take
advantage of the amnesty opportunity. Taxpayers are reminded that it is their
responsibility to ensure compliance with the tax laws of the country. SARS
offices throughout the country will again extend office hours to provide
assistance to amnesty applicants with the completion of their outstanding
documents.

The success of the Small Business Tax Amnesty, so far, is an indication that
many South Africans want to comply with their tax obligations. Many small
businesses are however at risk of not receiving amnesty because they have not
submitted the outstanding documents before the 31 August 2007 deadline.

After the deadline SARS will commence with enforcement actions against
taxpayers who have either not applied for amnesty or submitted an incomplete
application.
