National Izimbizo on the implementation of the Firearms Control Legislation
will be held as from 28 August 2006 to 22 September 2006. The aim of the
Izimbizo is to enhance the effective implementation of the provisions of the
Firearms Control Legislation focusing on the renewal of firearm licences,
permits and authorisations of businesses that must renew their existing firearm
licences, permits or authorisations before 31 December 2006.
The purpose of the Izimbizo will be to raise public awareness in order to
educate all non-official institutions regarding the renewal of their existing
firearm licences, permits or authorisations before 31 December 2006.
It is also hoped that through these Izimbizo responsible firearm ownership
will be enhanced as well as compliance to the provisions of the Firearms
Control Legislation.
The Izimbizo will be conducted within the various provinces at the following
venues and dates respectively:
