South African Police Service to host National Community Police
Consultative Forum, 24 - 25 Aug

The National Community Police Consultative Forum set to chart
the way forward in grappling with challenges of policing

24 August 2006

The National Community Police Consultative Forum (NCPCF) is holding its
two-day work session to chart the way forward and revitalise its engagement
with contemporary challenges of policing.

The first session on Thursday, 24 August 2006, was attended by chairpersons
of all nine (9) provinces, the police secretariat attached to the Ministry for
Safety and Security and personnel of the South African Police Service (SAPS)
attached to the Component: Partnership policing at the division: Crime
prevention. The second session will be attended by the aforesaid delegates and
other interested parties, and will be open to the media. The session will be
held on Friday, 25 August 2006, at the Burgerspark Hotel, Pretoria, starting at
09h00.

It will be recalled that there had been media speculation in the past that
police forums have either collapsed, or have failed to engage the police
establishment constructively. These and other issues will be discussed at
tomorrow's session.

Media is hereby invited, and interviews and photo-sessions will be granted
on request.
