Symposium

The Head of Division Training in the South African Police Service (SAPS),
Commissioner Gary Kruser, invites the media to the 16th Interpol Symposium for
Heads of Police Training, to be held at Emperor's Palace, Kempton Park, from
March 5-7, 2007.
More than 139 international police delegates from across the globe will
attend the Symposium, whose theme is "Building an International Learning
Community for Policing." Some of the pertinent policing issues to be discussed
include the following:
* initiative to improve international co-operation in police training in
order to assist those countries with limited resources
* transformation of monitoring missions in the new democracies, post war, and
developing countries
* improvement of service delivery within the police service
* effective service delivery through quality police training
* use of e-learning and multi-media in police training, and examples of best
practices.
The National Commissioner of the SAPS and also President of Interpol, Jackie
Selebi and, the Secretary-General of Interpol, Mr Ronald K Noble, will attend
the Symposium.
