Hard work and dedication has ultimately paid dividends for over 3000
personnel who have attended qualification certificates through the Adult Basic
Education and Training (ABET) course offered by Secudac (Pty) Ltd to members of
the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Certificates of completion will be issued to successful candidates at
graduation ceremonies countrywide starting on Monday, 13 February 2006, and
ending on Tuesday, 7 March 2006.
A total number of three thousand four hundred and nineteen (3419) graduates
will be presented with certificates at 10 respective ceremonies nationwide. The
ABET course was presented for the first time in 2004.
These graduates are SAPS employees who fit the description 'previously
disadvantaged'. They chose to take responsibility for their own circumstances
and with hard work and by making use of opportunities coming their way, find
themselves today empowered to position themselves more favourably with regard
to their careers.
The enthusiasm with which these learners participate in this programme with
the aim of enhancing amongst others, their literacy skills, is tangible proof
of the fact the South African Police Service embarked on the right road to
belief and invests in its employees, regardless on what level an employee might
be.
The more educated any person becomes, the better chance such a person has of
improving the quality of his or her personal life with the result that such
persons can be better utilized by the employer.
The successful completion of yet another ABET year will benefit the
individuals involved, the South African Police Service as an organisation as
well as the community at large, as service delivery in general will surely be
improved. The South African Police Service remains committed to the development
of all its employees, indeed the most valuable asset that deserves this type of
support and investment.
Media is hereby invited and interviews and/or photo sessions will be
