South African National Defence Force participation in the
National Civic Remembrance Day Service and Parade

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) will participate in the
86th annual National Civic Remembrance Day Service and Parade at the Cenotaph
in Harrison Street, Johannesburg on Sunday, 12 November 2006 at 15h00.

The City of Johannesburg hosts the National Civic Remembrance Day Service
annually whereby it pays tribute to the South Africans who lost their lives in
honour of their country. This year approximately four hundred members of the
SANDF will participate in the event.

The colourful marching order will be executed by SANDF regular and reserve
forces elements, South African Police Service (SAPS), Johannesburg (Jhb.) Metro
Detachments, Jhb. Emergency Services Detachments, Ex-Service organisations
including Gunners Association, Ex- Umkhonto weSizwe (MK), Azanian People’s
Liberation Army (APLA), Azanian Liberation Army (AZANLA), SA Infantry
Association, Royal Naval Association and SA Air Force Association, elements of
Youth Volunteer Organisations viz. SA Red Cross, Noodhulpliga, Boy Scouts, Girl
Guides, school children and fire engines with lights covered with black cloths
to mark this day.
