The Deputy Minister for Safety and Security, Ms Susan Shabangu will be
launching the Child Protection Week in Delft, Western Cape on 30 May 2006.
The launch of the campaign which is aimed at increasing awareness about the
protection of children will unfold as follows:
* On 30 May 2006 at 06:00 the delegation comprising the Deputy Minister for
Safety and Security, Ms Susan Shabangu, the MEC for Safety and Security in the
Western Cape, as well as the Provincial Commissioner will gather at three
different venues, viz Wynberg, Bellville and Khayelitsha and all three groups
will board trains (interact with commuters), and converge at Cape Town Railway
Station (Platform 1) and have a short media briefing before departing to Delft
South Community Sports Complex.
* On 31 May 2006, the Deputy Minister for Safety and Security and her entourage
will visit the families of the 66 former homeless children who were reunited
with their families.
* On 1 June 2006, the Deputy Minister for Safety and Security will present the
budget vote in Parliament and the above-mentioned 66 children and their
families will be invited to be in Parliament for the day.
