S Ndebele on IFP allegation on advertising in Sunday Tribune

Response to Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) statement:
KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Premier did ban advertising in Sunday Tribune

23 May 2007

The media statement issued by Dr LPHM Mtshali from the IFP on 23 May 2007
regarding the above-mentioned subject refers.

Any directive issued by the KZN provincial government is issued in writing,
on an official letterhead and under the signature of an authorised person.

Therefore, with regards to the statement issued by Dr LPHM Mtshali, there is
no government directive that has been issued by the KZN provincial government
not to advertise in the Sunday Tribune newspaper. On the contrary, the KZN
provincial government continues to advertise in all newspapers relevant for its
target audiences in the province; all newspapers in the Independent Newspapers
stable, included.

The Sunday Tribune can speak for itself on this matter. As Government, we
have not been made aware that Dr LPHM Mtshali has now become the Sunday
Tribune's spokesperson.
