Director-General
13 June 2007
Dr Kwazi Mbanjwa has been appointed as KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Director-General
with immediate effect. Dr Mbanjwa has been acting in the position since May
this year following the stepping down of his predecessor, Professor Mandla
Mchunu.
In appointing Dr Mbanjwa, Provincial Premier Sibusiso Ndebele, expressed
confidence in the new Director-General and that he would be able to carry on
the good work started by his predecessor, especially in ensuring heightened
service delivery and good governance in the province.
"As former KZN Transport Head of Department, Dr Mbanjwa brings with him a
wealth of public service experience and an impeccable record as a manager and
team leader. I have no doubt he will add real value in our advance to bring to
completion all outstanding government business in this province," Ndebele said.
Dr Mbanjwa is the second longest serving Head of Department in the province,
after Dr Sipho Shabalala, who is Head of Provincial Treasury.
