Eastern, Southern and Central African heads of correctional services
(CESCA)
30 August 2006
KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Sbu Ndebele, will address the extra-ordinary CESCA on
31 August 2006, at Elangeni Hotel in Durban, at 09h00.
The CESCA conference is expected to adopt a new constitution that will usher
in an African corrections organisation that will play a more critical role in
Africa's post conflict reconstruction and development under the auspices of the
African Union (AU) and the New Partnership for Africaâs Development (NEPAD).
The two-day special conference of seventeen African countries seeks to
implement a resolution of the seventh CESCA conference held in Nairobi, Kenya
that an all-Africa corrections body should be established.
The conference is coinciding with the inaugural Southern African Development
Community (SADC) games that were launched by Ministers Makhenkesi Stofile and
Ngconde Balfour, on Monday, 28 August 2006 and will be closed on Friday, 1
September 2006 by Minister Balfour with the official announcement of results at
the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Westville Campus.
