Investment mission
18 October 2006
After consulting with the South African embassy in China, Premier Sello
Moloto has decided to postpone the China leg of the three-country trade and
investment mission, to early next year. "The embassy indicated that it is
already over-stretched with two other provinces visiting, and they are also
preparing for the visit by President Thabo Mbeki. I felt that we as Limpopo
will not get the kind of attention we have envisaged."
"We want the spotlight to be on Limpopo. That's why we have managed to
derive so much value out of our trips to Malaysia and India. The delegation
will therefore leave Malaysia for South Africa through Hong Kong," said the
premier. "We are scheduled to arrive in South Africa tomorrow morning." The
premier has, however, delegated Honourable Collins Chabane, MEC for Economic
Development, Environment and Tourism, to continue with the trip to China where
he will be able to nurture relations with those cities which have formal ties
with the province. He will also prepare the cities for the premier's visit
early next year.
