We have learnt with shock and a deep sense of sadness the news of the
untimely departure of Zodwa Khoza, the Brand Manager of Orlando Pirates and
daughter of Dr Irvin Khoza, the Vice President of the South African Football
Association (SAFA) and Chairman of World Cup 2010 Local Organising
Committee.
We were scheduled to have a meeting with him and the managing directors of
both Dynamos and Black Leopards in my office today, 14 February 2006. Our
focus, among others, was going to be on the further role Limpopo Provincial
Government could play in the development of soccer in the province. Owing to
the dark cloud that has befallen the Khoza family we have postponed the meeting
in question till further notice.
The people of Limpopo, their government and the soccer loving community in
general are all poorer without âZoâ for she has left a huge void too difficult
to fill. We will miss her for the immense contribution she has made towards the
development of sport in our country.
Our prayers will always be with the family of Khoza and we wish them
sufficient strength to see through this difficult time of bereavement.
May her soul rest in peace!
