Premier Sello Moloto leads a provincial delegation to Asia on a
Trade and Investment Mission

The premier of Limpopo, Honourable Sello Moloto, will lead a trade
delegation from the province to the three Asian countries of India, China and
Malaysia. The premier will leave this Sunday, 8 October 2006, and arrive back
in the country on 25 October 2006. Whilst the first citizen of the province is
abroad, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, the MEC for Education, will act as the
premier.

Accompanying the premier will be the MEC for Economic Development,
Environment and Tourism, Honourable Collins Chabani, and the MEC for Local
Government and Housing, Honourable Maite Nkoana-Mashabane. The delegation will
also include representatives of the parastatals such as Trade and Investment
Limpopo (TIL), Limpopo Tourism and Parks (to be represented by the Chief
Executive Officer, Benny Boshielo), Limpopo Economic Development Enterprise
(LIMDEV) and Limpopo Business Support Agency (LIBSA). Provincial government
departments to be included in the delegation are Agriculture, Economic
Development, Environment & Tourism, Education, Local Government and Housing
and the Office of the Premier.

The mission is intended to explore economic relations with the three
countries on human resources development, organisational development agency,
co-operatives, airport management, electronics, manufacturing, timber
processing, mining and smelting, Industrial Development Zones (IDZ),
Information and Communications Technology (ITC), local economic development,
human settlement and rural sanitation.

India

The province will also participate at the "India, A Partner of Choice" trade
exhibition and conference which will be held from 9 � 11 October 2006 at the
Taj Palace, New Delhi. Some of the topics to be addressed by the sectoral
sessions at the conference include "Productivity 2010: Focus on Agriculture"
(which will look at agriculture equipment for greater productivity; developing
rural marketing hubs, information and communications technology [ICT] in the
agrarian sector and infrastructure for agriculture); "Management for
productivity� that will address water needs and "Generating employment
avenues," which will address skills development, small and medium enterprises
turn-key projects and manufacturing sector and a session on "Infrastructure
development and management" such as railway, roads and bridges, ports and power
and energy.

China

In China, the premier will visit the cities of Shanghai, Beijing, Anhui and
Jilin. The premier will meet with the Ministries of Commerce, Agriculture,
Trade and Economic Co-operation and the State Bureau for Tourism. In the
Chinese town of Anhui, the province will service an existing Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) which touched on such areas as economic trade, science and
technology, agriculture, tourism and mining, agricultural co-operatives,
machinery, production and manufacturing.

Malaysia

In Malaysia, the delegation will visit the towns of Megiri and Semilan where
they will explore possibilities of partnerships around trade and investment
promotion, targeting mining, manufacturing, tourism and Official Development
Assistance (ODA). Whilst in Jilin, the delegation will be joined by the
Executive Mayor of Polokwane, Councillor Thabo Makunyane, who will negotiate a
twinning agreement with the city's leadership. The premier will also meet the
political leadership of the cities to be visited.
