S Moloto to deliver State of the Province Address, 9 Feb

Premier Moloto to open Limpopo Legislature

2 February 2006

Limpopo Premier Sello Moloto will deliver the State of the Province Address
(SoPA) on 9 February 2006 at Lebowakgomo Legislative Chamber. This will provide
the Premier with yet another unique opportunity to give a detailed account of
the developments in the province. Most importantly, he outline the plan and
programme of action of the provincial government for the year 2006/07 and
beyond.

Guided by the recent Provincial Executive Council Lekgotla, the Premier will
focus on the specific issues and/or objectives of the Provincial Growth and
Development Strategy which amongst others include growing the economy, fighting
poverty, job creation, institutional building, fighting HIV and AIDS and more
importantly, regional integration. The performance of the province in the area
of mining, agriculture and tourism, which are the strategic economic growth
points of the Limpopo, will also feature predominantly.

Consistent with the Project Consolidate and related capacity building
interventions for local government, the provincial government’s plan to bring
about synergy and integration of planning between the provincial government and
municipalities in the Limpopo will also be outlined. This, in the main, seeks
to improve and enhance administration and service delivery capacity at the
local sphere of governance.

The necessary and priority attention in the next financial year is likely to
be given to such important areas as skills development, drought relief,
infrastructure development and essential social services like housing,
education and health care. More likely to be intensified is the fight against
corruption; ritual killings and the demon of racism which continue to rear
their ugly heads in our public.

The address by the Premier will be preceded by cultural and traditional
dances to showcase the diversity of the Province.
