S Moloto to deliver address during Batho Pele Day, 11 Nov

Limpopo Government reports to its citizens during Batho Pele
Day

7 November 2006

Imagine the roaring sounds of the Police Brass Band followed by the vibrant
ones of the music of Ntando and other local artists, plus sweet melodies from
the Office of the Premier's choir.

These will be happening during the Limpopo Provincial Government's Batho
Pele Day celebration. The event will be celebrated at Ntwampe Primary School
Sport Ground, Moroke Village in Greater Tubatse Municipality in Sekhukhune
District on Saturday, 11 November 2006, starting at 08h00.

This year's celebration takes place under the theme: "Age of Hope:
Addressing service delivery challenges together for an improved quality of
life."

Batho Pele Day was first celebrated in 1999 and since then it has become an
annual event aimed at informing communities about services rendered by
government. The event helps to give feedback on service delivery related
challenges faced by communities.

In turn, Members of Executive Council (MECs) sign statements of Public
Service Commitment on the day to demonstrate the service delivery commitments
government makes to its people. Heads of departments will also sign the Public
Service Pledge.

The Premier of Limpopo, Mr Sello Moloto, will deliver the keynote address at
the occasion. Batho Pele day will also mark the ending of Public Service Week,
7 to 11 November, where top managers including the Director-General of the
province, will be concluding a week long visit to service points such as
hospitals, clinics and social grant pay points.

To make sure members of the public understand government and its services,
there will be exhibitions by various government departments showcasing
programmes and services.

To bring services closer to the people, departments will not only exhibit
but also render services at the spot. Among departments that will provide
services are Health and Social Development, South African Police Service (SAPS)
and Home Affairs.

On the entertainment side, people will also enjoy traditional dances from
different groups from all corners of Limpopo.
