Premier Sello Moloto has approved the appointment of Zwoitwaho Calvin
Nevhutalu as the new Head of the Department of Education with effect from 1
November 2006. “Zwo” as he is affectionately known was previously serving as a
Chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in the province since
1998.

Nevhutalu holds a Diploma in Theology, a Bachelor of Theology and Honours
Degree in Theology and certificates in Project Management, Effective Director
Management and Public Finance Management Act. Over the years, Nevhutalu has
occupied leadership roles in various institutions. Currently he is managing the
Limpopo provincial office of the IEC where his core duties include development
of strategic and operational plans of the office and interacting with both
internal and external stakeholders.

His involvement in community programmes has been conspicuous from 1987 when
he was a chairperson of various organisations such as Kagiso Trust (TVL) and
Ecumenical Confessing Fellowship. From 1989 to 1992 he was the Chairperson of
the Educational Aid Programme. He led student organisations such as SUCA.

Nevhutalu's Christian side can of course not go unnoticed. He served as a
pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church from 1985 to 1994. A year later he became
a Dean and a Bishop of the same church until 1998. “Zwo” Nevhutalu is currently
in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), monitoring the ongoing presidential
elections.

MEC for Education Aaron Motsoaledi said that as a department they are eager
to work with Nevhutalu in making sure that the Education department reaches its
objectives.

The Premier said, “We welcome the new HOD and we render ourselves privileged
to have a man of his calibre in the provincial administration. We have no doubt
that with his experience as a leader, the Department will succeed in executing
its mandate and in serving the public”.
