The National Maternal, Child and Women's Health Directorate recently started
to co-ordinate quarterly sexual assault meetings nationally. The Free State is
among the provinces that had made progress in managing this programme.
At the national November meeting, a resolution was that national meetings
should rotate. Provinces will be granted the opportunity to show their
achievements. The Free State was chosen first to host this meeting.
A dinner is planned on 6 February to welcome guests from outside the
Province, to launch Reproductive Health Month (sexual assault is part thereof)
and to share the results of research done on Rapid Assessment of Sexual Assault
cases.
