Deputy Minister to assess progress of conservation and
environmental management projects in Western Cape

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Ms Rejoice
Mabudafhasi, will visit poverty alleviation projects in the Western Cape
province to assess progress achieved to date.

The visit is planned for Monday, 25 June 2007 for projects located in the
City of Cape Town. On Tuesday, 26 June 2007 the Deputy Minister will proceed to
George to view projects in that area. The projects prioritised for the visit
includes Witfontein Medicinal Plant Nursery, Outeniqua Conservation Economy,
Garden Route and Outeniqua Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise Development and
Baboon Monitoring.

The Deputy Minister and MEC for Environment, Planning and Economic
Development in the Western Cape Province, Ms Tasneem Essop will lead the
delegation to all project sites. Officials from Cape Nature will update the
delegation on the projects that they are implementing.
