Public Service Commission on appointment of Ms Ramsingh as new
Director-General

The Public Service Commission (PSC) welcomes the appointment of
Ms Odette Ramsingh as the new Director-General for Office of the Public Service
Commission (OPSC)

6 April 2006

At its meeting yesterday, Cabinet announced the appointment of Ms Odette
Ramsingh as the new Director-General for the Office of the Public Service
Commission (OPSC).

On behalf of the Public Service Commission (PSC), I am pleased to welcome
this appointment. Ms Ramsingh, will take up her position with effect from 1 May
2006.

Ms Ramsingh is not a stranger to the public service. She comes with a track
record of excellence and high performance, having started at the OPSC in 1997
as Chief Director for Appeals and Grievances.

Before her appointment as Director-General, Ms Ramsingh was Deputy
Director-General: Investigations and Human Resource Reviews at the OPSC. She
has been acting as the Director-General since October 2005 following the
departure of former OPSC Director-General, Mr Mpume Sikhosana.

Ms Ramsingh has an excellent record of academic and professional
achievement. She has an MBA from the University of Cape Town, Bachelor of Arts
and LLB from the University of Natal, Senior Executive Programme Certificate
from the Harvard Business School, and has recently completed an MA in
Governance and Development, from the University of Sussex in the UK.

Ms Ramsingh’s appointment is truly an affirmation of excellence in the
public service. I am certain that the OPSC will rise to high levels of
performance under her leadership.
