business finding solutions together
22 February 2007
The Department of Provincial and Local Government in partnership with its
private sector partners such as Absa and the Cape Media Corporation will on
Monday, 26 February 2007 and Tuesday, 27 February 2007, host a Public Private
Partnership (PPP) roundtable conference. The conference will aim to find
solutions for the acceleration of basic service delivery and encouraging
innovative public private collaboration in South Africa.
The conference will bring together under one roof key players from the
highest levels of both, business and government to ascertain the areas in which
Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) will expedite the delivery of municipal
infrastructure and basic services. This will be in line with the goals
government has set for itself in relation to the eradication of the bucket
system, water, sanitation, electricity, housing and universal access to basic
services.
The Minister for Provincial and Local Government, Mr Sydney Mufamadi, will
address the conference on Monday, 26 February 2007. Directors-General, senior
managers from various government departments and top business leaders will
attend and engage in discussions with the aim of creating sustainable
partnerships.
