Health
10 August 2007
The Presidency has noted statements made by former Deputy Minister of
Health, Ms Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge, at a press briefing earlier today.
The Presidency wishes to reiterate that the President does not commonly give
reasons for appointing and relieving members of Cabinet and Deputy Ministers of
their duties.
In the interest of both the government and Ms Madlala-Routledge, and
cognisant of the fact that she is no longer a member of the Executive, the
Presidency will neither be responding to her statements nor giving reasons why
she was relieved of her duties.
An appointment to the position of Deputy Minister of Health will be made in
due course.
