Following media queries regarding whether Dr Skweyiya travelled with the
Deputy President to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), The Presidency wishes to
state:
1. That Minister Zola Skweyiya did not travel with the Deputy
President.
2. That in the statement issued by The Presidency on this matter on 10 January
2005 and 12 January 2005 - following comments by the Deputy President in an
interview with the SABC giving further explanations - all necessary
considerations associated with her travel were articulated about her visit to
the UAE.
