The Presidency has learnt with great shock and sadness of the untimely
tragic death of Mpho Gift Leremi, in a car accident on Monday, 4 September
2007.
On behalf of The Presidency and indeed, the people of South Africa, we wish
to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Leremi family, relatives, friends
and his colleagues during this time of bereavement.
Leremi was an outstanding young sportsman who touched the lives of many
South Africans with the dazzling genius he displayed on the soccer field and
his dedication to the game of soccer. His infectious smile, humility, modesty
and respect for fans and supporters will be sadly missed.
Gift Leremi's dedication to the beautiful game will remain a source of
inspiration to many young South Africans who will carry his baton as we
approach the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.
May his soul rest in peace!
