Vilakazi urges police to do their best in servicing
community

North West MEC for Transport, Roads and Community Safety Phenye Vilakazi has
urged the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the province to make sure that
they deliver acceptable level of service to the citizens and ensure that the
available resources are utilised efficiently.

Vilakazi's comments came after his unannounced visits to police stations in
the Ngaka Modiri Molema district municipality (formerly Central District) with
Provincial Commissioner Lesetja Beetha.

"Police must take pride in your work and respond accordingly to the public's
plight at all times. We need to work tirelessly to ensure that our communities
are provided with an acceptable level of service by the police especially at
night. Our communities rely on the police for their safety, therefore we need
to be always on alert," said Vilakazi.

The department's acting spokesperson Alex Motseoakgosi said Vilakazi was
still going to do more unannounced visits to police stations, especially at
night, in order to assess the performance of the police.
