As part of the governmentâs campaign for effective teaching and learning,
the Deputy President, Mrs Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, today visited two schools in
Gauteng to monitor educatorsâ readiness for the beginning of the new academic
year and to encourage the teachers and the learners to work very hard to get
better education and results. She also inspected school infrastructure.
This morning learners in Mamelodi Uoane Primary School and in Alexandra High
School, which achieved a 71 percent pass rate last year, were taken by surprise
by the visit of the Deputy President.
Deputy President Mlambo-Ngcuka urged the learners to improve on their
learning. She encouraged them to do their best to choose subjects that will put
them on a path that would lead them to achieve their future goals.
