Municipality as part of the Presidential Imbizo

Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka accompanied by the Premier of the
Western Cape, Ebrahim Rasool and members of his Executive will visit the Eden
District Municipality (George, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Still Bay) in the
Western Cape as part of the country wide Presidential Imbizo programme intended
to strengthen municipal capacity to deliver on their mandate.
The focus of this yearâs imbizo programme is mainly on the Accelerated and
Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa (AsgiSA), Governmentâs Programme of
Action and Project Consolidate.
The imbizo will take place in three main towns of the district. The first
session where the district leadership will present the State of the District
report to the Deputy President will take place at Still Bay in the Hessequa
Local Municipality on Friday, 14 July 2006, at 09h00.
The Deputy President will later on the same day, interact with key
stakeholders including business and the farming community in a meeting to take
place at the George City Hall, in George. This meeting is scheduled to commence
at 14h00.
On Saturday, 15 July 2006, at 13h00 the Deputy President and her delegation
will interact directly with the community in a public imbizo to take place at
the KwaNokuthula Stadium in Plettenberg Bay, Bitou Local Municipality.
The Deputy President is also expected to be part of a handing over of title
deeds to 19 beneficiaries of the Simunye Farms Project in Plettenberg Bay on
Friday, 14 July 2006.
