1 October 2007
The Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will later today, 1 October
2007, launch 'The South African Experiment' at the JSE in Johannesburg.
'The South African Experiment' is sponsored by The Da Vinci Institute for
Technology Management. The first phase of this programme will embrace service
quality which involves a unique partnership between private and public
sectors.
This programme is based on the success of the 'Belgian Experiment' which
stimulated the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of that country by as much
as 3%.
The intervention is designed primarily to boost economic growth using the
lessons learned from Belgium. In addition it is expected to go a long way
towards:
* diminishing the gap between the private and public sectors,
* creating capacity at historically disadvantaged tertiary educational
institutions,
* stimulating a 'can do' mindset among South Africans.
